If Lily Collins‘ upcoming movie “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” is as big of a hit as the books it’s based on are, then Collins could be the next big YA star. Unsurprisingly, she admits in a new interview that she looks to Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart when it comes to mapping out her own career trajectory.

“I admire how they’ve both handled the fame that came with those roles and their ability to step outside those roles and do other projects,” she tells Seventeen. “That’s what I want to do: balance fun big movies with gritty passion projects I love.”

She isn’t the only up-and-coming YA star who turned to those successful leading ladies for help. “Divergent’s” Shailene Woodley also talked to Lawrence about her career, and it turns out “The Hunger Games” star’s words of wisdom to her were “don’t be an idiot, do a sex tape, [or] do drugs.” Sage advice, if we’ve ever heard it.

Collins talks about how she’s made a concerted effort to live her life in the moment and as she wants to live it, and she says that extends to her relationship with co-star Jamie Campbell Bower.

“We’ve made a conscious decision to go out and live life. I’m not one to hide anything, but I don’t feel the need to comment directly on it,” she says. “I think it would be a shame to not live in the moment and not enjoy everything that’s happening in fear of other people’s opinions.”

Interestingly enough, Bower isn’t the first co-star Collins has dated (she also was with her “Abduction” co-star Taylor Lautner). At least she’s following in the footsteps of Lawrence and Stewart with her love life, as both of them had publicized relationships with their onscreen love interests as well (Nicholas Hoult and Robert Pattinson, respectively). As far as the scene she had the most fun filming, Collins chose the big romantic moment in “City of Bones.”

“Filming the greenhouse scene was really fun because it’s an epic scene that everyone is looking forward to and it’s in this beautiful greenhouse,” she says. “The set was stunning. It’s exactly how you read it in the book. But all of the action fight sequences were really fun too because we trained so hard for them!”

“The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” hits theaters on Aug. 21.
