michelle williams marilyn monroe Marilyn Monroe movie, Michelle Williams' 'My Week With Marilyn' to premiere at New York Film Festival

The Weinstein Company has been a little stingy with sneak peeks in anticipation of the Nov. 4 release of “My Week With Marilyn,” the pseudo-biopic about the iconic actress which sees Michelle Williams stepping into the titular role.

But we won’t have to wait much longer to see more from the movie. The New York Film Festival announced the Simon Curtis-directed picture will premiere as the festival centerpiece on Oct. 9.

Based on the diary of British writer Colin Clark, the movie follows the week in 1956 Clark worked as Monroe’s assistant as she began filming “The Prince and the Showgirl” with Lawrence Olivier in the U.K.. It also stars Kenneth Branagh, Eddie Redmayne, Emma Watson, Dominic Cooper, Judi Dench and Dougray Scott.

“After seeing Marilyn Monroe so often portrayed in films as a caricature, it is a pleasure to see this complex personality and unique on-screen presence portrayed so well by such a talented actress as Michelle Williams,” festival programmer Richard Pena said in a statement.

The trailer for “Marilyn” debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in May, but has yet to be released for a mainstream audience. Early buzz has Williams poised for a possible Oscar nomination in the 2012 race.
