matt damon interstellar gi Matt Damon joins 'Interstellar,' Batman director Christopher Nolan's next movie

Matt Damon might support Ben Affleck as Batman, but it sure looks like he’s siding with the other team. It’s being reported that Damon has joined the cast of “Interstellar,” Christopher Nolan‘s first post-“The Dark Knight” trilogy movie.

The Playlist reports that Damon will have a “small, undisclosed role” in the upcoming sci-fi flick. According to the site’s sources, Damon will only film for two weeks in Iceland, while the entire shoot is slated to take place over four months.

That small role might be because he has bigger plans on the horizon. The Playlist also reports that Damon has found his directorial debut in the form of “A Murder Foretold,” which is written by “Argo” screenwriter Chris Terrio and based on a 2008 New Yorker article about the life of David Grann. Damon previously had been slated to direct “Promised Land,” but his reshoots on “Elysium” meant he didn’t have enough time to commit to the project.

“Interstellar” is slated to hit theaters on Nov. 7, 2014. It also stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, John Lithgow, Bill Irwin, Wes Bentley, David Oyelowo, Mackenzie Foy, Topher Grace, Michael Caine, Ellen Burstyn and Timothée Chalamet. The mysterious science fiction film “chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.”
