metallica through the never imax 3d gi 'Metallica: Through the Never' opens on IMAX 3D screens in September

In September, Metallica fans will be able to see their favorite heavy metal band on the big screen. The band is releasing a new concert movie, which also features narrative elements and CGI. The 3D film, “Metallica: Through the Never,” is set to debut on IMAX screens a week before traditional theaters.
It’s the first time a movie will make it’s debut on IMAX before going to regular screens. “To be at the forefront in this situation where IMAX has never done this is very exciting,” drummer Lars Ulrich tells the Associated Press, “It’s also a bit of a confidence booster. Being in the movie-making business is not necessarily our forte.”
Ulrich says the narrative elements of the movie star Dane DeHaan, who is currently filming his role as Harry Osbourn in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” DeHaan plays a member of the Metallica tour crew in the film, sent on a special mission by the band. His scripted scenes will intertwine with concert footage from the band.
“Metallica: Through the Never” arrives on IMAX screens in 3D on September 27, before opening in regular format screens a week later.
