“Modern Family” presents itself as representing many different types of families, but there is definitely one omission that is becoming glaring due to star Ty Burrell’s latest movie.
In “Muppets Most Wanted,” Burrell plays an Interpol agent who teams with Sam Eagle to track down Constantine, the world’s most dangerous frog. Could his show fit in a Muppet family, though? “We purport to be somewhat realistic,” he tells Zap2it, “but that would be the part of America that hasn’t been represented on ‘Modern Family’ … the Muppet population.”
Since that’s not likely to happen, unless there’s a scene with some sort of crazy fever dream, Burrell would be just as happy doing another movie with his Muppet co-star, Sam. “I would love it. Buddy cop [movie]?” he ponders. “‘I’m too old for this stuff,’ I think for the Muppets. I would love it — I had so much fun on the movie, but I had so much fun working with Sam Eagle.”
“Muppets Most Wanted” is in theaters Friday (March 21).
