Before you know it, “Iron Man 3” will be here. Marvel has already released a trailer, a Super Bowl commercial, as well as a poster of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, to get fans excited for the movie. The big question mark, though, has been over the film’s villain.
While we know Sir Ben Kingley has been cast as The Mandarin, those who aren’t comic book fans might not know who that is. There was a brief glimpse of the villain in the trailer, but you didn’t really get a feel for the character.
That’s all changed now, as Marvel released a character poster for The Mandarin, Friday. The poster gives audiences a good look at Kingsley in the role. In the movie, The Mandarin is an international terrorist, set on destroying Stark’s life, as well as his life as Iron Man.
Marvel also released a character poster for Aldrich Killian, a geneticist played by Guy Pearce. In the comics, Killian is one of the scientists responsible for creating the Extremis virus, a super-soldier serum. Marvel has yet to confirm if the Extremis virus plays a role in the movie. However, Rebecca Hall was also added to the cast as Maya Hansen, another scientist involved in its creation.

“Iron Man 3” also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Rececca Hall, and John Favreau. Favreau served as director of the first two movies, but is sticking to reprising his role as Stark’s bodyguard Happy Hogan in the third. Taking over the director’s chair is Shane Black, whose debut film, “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang,” also starred Downey.
