Orlando Bloom in Pirates of the Caribbean'

“Pirates of the Caribbean” fans are going to see a familiar face when the fifth installment, “Dead Men Tell No Tales” arrives in theaters. It was announced at D23 that Orlando Bloom would return to reprise his role as Will Turner.

The news, which was previously rumored, elicited screams from the D23 audience, though no derails were given about how Bloom’s character will fit into the new adventure or how big a role he’ll play. The movie has already wrapped production in Australia, with stars Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush also returning.

Depp appeared at D23 in-costume as Captain Jack Sparrow, snacking on grapes and throwing them at fans in the audience. At least he had the decency to ask if anyone in the room was allergic before he started tossing them around.

Bloom was last seen in the third “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie, 2007’s “At World’s End.” In it he was mortally wounded by Davy Jones and is now doomed to sail the Netherworld, only resurfacing every ten years.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” is in theaters July 7, 2017.
