the heat sequel sandra bullock Sandra Bullock on 'The Heat' sequel: 'I can't imagine it'

For cynics who believe that most sequels should never have been made and should never be made, here’s some good news for you: Sandra Bullock, star of “The Heat” with Melissa McCarthy, doesn’t see a sequel on the horizon for her buddy cop comedy at this time.

Though the still-in-theaters flick has already grossed $130 million — which sparked rumors of a possible sequel — Bullock doesn’t want to ruin a good thing. “I know they say never say never, but right now, I can’t imagine it,” Bullock said in an interview with EW. “I don’t want to ruin what Melissa and I had. If a miracle happens where [a script] shows up that really and truly outdid the first and provided an experience that was better than the first one, then I would look at it. But I’m not there.”

Bullock is well-educated in the reality of less-than-stellar sequels (ahem, “Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous”). “If you look back on my illustrious sequel work, nothing has proven successful,” Bullock said. “A sequel is such a daunting thing, because you don’t want to lose the magic and the charm of the first one.”

You can catch Bullock in the upcoming film “Gravity,” a (non-sequel) Alfonso Cuarn-directed space thriller due in theaters Oct. 4.
