william fichtner the shredder teenage mutant ninja turtles gi 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles': William Fichtner is The Shredder

Though it was rumored before, William Fichtner has confirmed that he will indeed portray The Shredder in the upcoming “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie reboot being produced by Michael Bay. The character is the turtles arch nemesis, a man covered in razor-sharp steel who commands an army of ninjas.
Word first got out that Fichtner would be joining the project in an “iconic role,” which led many to believe that he would become The Shredder. How his version of the character fits into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle mythology is unknown. Previously, the character was actually a Japanese man named Oroku Saki, who took on the mantle of The Shredder to lead his clan of ninjas in the U.S.
The actor spilled the beans about the role in an interview with Huffington Post Canada. “I play Shredder. It is cool,” he says. “It’s one of those things that came along where I thought, ‘Really? Let me think about this for a minute.’ [Laughs] Then I was like, ‘Yeah, OK, this sounds like a journey.’ I’m very glad that it worked out, I’m really glad that I’m doing it.”
He joins the already announced cast of Megan Fox as April O’Neil and Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick, along with Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard and Alan Ritchson as the four turtles. Danny Woodburn will portray their fatherfigure, Splinter.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” will be in theaters June 6, 2014.
