Considering the history “The Hunger Games” franchise has with the MTV Movie Awards, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to learn that Lionsgate has teamed up with MTV to premiere the first teaser trailer for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” at the upcoming awards show. Thus far only a handful of stills and an array of Victory Tour posters have been released from the new movie.
It remains to be seen how much is actually revealed in the “Catching Fire” teaser trailer. When MTV did the same sort of premiere for “The Hunger Games” in 2011, all the teaser was showed was Jennifer Lawrence‘s Katniss Everdeen in the Arena while Liam Hemsworth‘s Gale gave her advice in a narration. A teaser to be sure, but not a big taste of what was in store in the movie.
“The Hunger Games” won big at the MTV Movie Awards in 2012. The film home Best Female Performance, Best Fight, Best Male Performance and Best On-Screen Transformation. It was also nominated for Best Cast, Best Hero, Best Kiss, Breakthrough Performance and Best Movie.
Directed by Francis Lawrence, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” stars Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Stanley Tucci, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Woody Harrelson, Alan Ritchson, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Amanda Plummer, Jeffrey Wright and Willow Shields. It’s due in theaters on Nov. 22. The MTV Movie Awards air on April 14.
