evil dead halloween horror nights Universal Halloween Horror Nights announces 'Evil Dead' haunted house

Universal Hollywood and Universal Orlando are going to be presenting one terrifying experience to their guests. With Halloween Horror Nights just around the corner, the two theme parks have announced that they’ll be teaming with Sony Pictures to bring the world of Fede Alvarez‘s film “Evil Dead” to life.

“I’m thrilled with how popular ‘Evil Dead’ has become with horror fans, and it’s exciting that it’s coming to life at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights,” Alvarez says in a statement. “Just like the film, this haunted maze is going to be over-the-top, in-your-face and completely outrageous — and I can’t wait to see it.”

According to a press release sent out by the Universal theme parks, the maze will begin with a passage from the Necronomicon being read. That catapults Horror Nights attendees into the world of “Evil Dead,” with violently possessed victims — including Mia — chasing guests through the maze and through passages inspired by the film.

“The Evil Dead series is iconic, and this latest film has set the scare factor to 11,” Universal Orlando’s Entertainment team’s Michael Aiello says in a statement. “These haunted mazes will be just as intense and unapologetically terrifying, and I can’t wait for my fellow horror fans to venture inside and live the unyielding horror they’ve seen in the film.”

Though both theme parks are creating “Evil Dead” haunted houses, don’t expect them to be the exact same. Like “The Walking Dead” mazes in 2012, Hollywood and Orlando will likely make their own unique spins on the horror properties.

Meanwhile, Universal Orlando recently announced it will be creating a “The Cabin in the Woods” house that sounds pretty incredible. Halloween Horror Nights start running select nights in both Orlando and Hollywood on Sept. 20. “Evil Dead” hits DVD and Blu-ray today.
