The closer we get to the show's finale, the tougher the "American Idol" competition seems to get. On Thursday (March 24), Trent Harmon continued his suave transformation with a "muddy" performance of ZZ Top's classic track "Sharp Dressed Man." While Harmon still wears those hats and scarves, his on-stage persona has got style and class.

Making the track his own, the rendition of the song changed tempo from slow to fast and back to slow, causing nothing but praise from Harry Connick, Jr. Pointing out that Harmon could've gone on for 10 minutes with that song if he were to ever perform it on tour, the "Idol" hopeful was met with a standing ovation from all three judges.

Later in the episode, Sia appeared as guest mentor and helped Harmon take on her hardest track, "Chandelier." By the looks of things, he did the wigged singer proud.

While it still looks like La'Porsha Renae will be this year's winner, Trent is making his presence known which may turn this into a tight race during the final season's home stretch. It'll be fun to see how this all shakes out, won't it?

"American Idol" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
