Beyonce debuted “Lemonade” on HBO Saturday (April 23), which was a mix of sometimes strange, sometimes beautiful imagery and music that was sometimes angry, sometimes sad.

From fire to wilted flowers to children to talk of abuse and cheating, the film had social media a-buzz about how Beyonce was, basically, divorcing her husband Jay Z via an HBO hour-long special.

“Did he make you forget your own name? Did he convince you he was a god? Did you get on your knees daily? Do his eyes close like doors? Are you a slave to the back of his hand? Am I talking about your husband, or your father?” asks Beyonce’s voice over at one point.

About three-quarters of the way through the special — in the segment titled “Forgiveness” — Jay Z appeared for the first time, as Beyonce sang a melancholy piece whose refrain goes, “Every promise don’t work out that way.”

But the two were clearly “together” in the segment, plus they appeared later in the film being much goofier and light-hearted together. There was even some footage from their wedding, so that seems to put the rumors to rest that “Lemonade” was about Jay Z. It didn’t stop Twitter from having a really good time with some memes, however.
