It was a battle of two television stars and the creator of “Breaking Bad” on day one of the 2015 celebrity “Jeopardy!” tournament Monday (May 11). Who took home the top prize?

“Scrubs” and “The Middle” actor Neil Flynn was the big winner, earning $50,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Mysteries of Laura” star Debra Messing took 2nd place, earning $21,000 for PSI/YouthAids, while “Better Call Saul” creator Vince Gilligan finished in 3rd place, winning $14,900 for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond.

Flynn says he’s been a fan of the show since he was a kid, “watching it in black and white,” while Messing says she and her 11-year-old son Roman DVR the long-running game show and play together “all the time.”

Gilligan admits he maybe should have studied more, but instead he “made the mistake of looking up on the Internet to see whether or not [he] should wear a tie.”

Other celebrities taking part in this year’s celeb tournament include Wendi McClendon-Covey, Josh Gad, Aaron Rodgers, Mo Rocca, Zachary Quinto, Bellamy Young, Ginger Zee, John Berman, Penn Jillette, Kevin O’Leary, Mark Kelly and Cynthia Rowley.
