Sharon Simmons of Carrolton, Texas is a 56-year-old grandmother of two and this past weekend, she tried out for the famed Dallas Cowboys cheerleading squad, flanked by girls more than half her age.

So far, I’ve had three marriage proposals,” Simmons tells the local CBS affiliate, since the story has gone viral after hitting the local airwaves.

Lest you worry about Simmons ability to keep up with the other girls auditioning, she is a fitness instructor and takes three different weekly dance classes, where she says her goal is to “get into the splits.” She’s still not quite there.

But dancing and fitness are not Simmons only endeavors. She recently penned the book “Triple F: Fifty, Fit and Fabulous” and she will also appear in an episode of the “Dallas” reboot that begins airing this summer on TNT.

Best of luck to Sharon. There is no word yet as to whether she made the squad. But if she does, she’ll be the oldest NFL cheerleader in history – by a whopping 14 years.
