“666 Park Avenue” debuted on ABC tonight following “Revenge” — and that’s some valuable real estate. The series stars Rachael Taylor and Dave Annable as Jane and Henry, a sweet couple who move in to their dream apartment in exchange for agreeing to manage the swanky building, called The Drake. Unfortunately, the dream literally becomes a nightmare as we discover that the building’s owners, Gavin (Terry O’Quinn) and Olivia (Vanessa Williams) have sinister reasons behind hiring Jane.
In the first episode, we met a few of the tenants, including photographer Louise (Mercedes Masohn) and her playwright husband Brian (Robert Buckley), whose wandering eye might get him into some trouble. Jane also encountered fifteen-year-old Nona (Samantha Logan), whose psychic ability is just one of many supernatural aspects lurking in the old building.
If you were going into “666 Park Avenue” looking for “American Horror Story”-type scares, you probably didn’t find them — but the show is creepy in its own right, and O’Quinn and Williams are so clearly relishing their devious roles that it’s a blast to watch.
