According to, one in three homeless people are under the age of
18. And they want to, well, do something about it, so they’re kicking off their fourth annual “Jeans for Teens” campaign with the hope of reaching their one-millionth pair of jeans for homeless teens. And “90210” stars, Matt Lanter and Jessica Lowndes, have signed on to spread the word.
“I’m excited to be part of an initiative that proves the power of young people,” says Lanter. “No teen should go without warm clothes this winter. We want our fans to run jean drives in their schools and communities to help us reach this goal.”
The campaign kicks off on Monday, Jan. 17 until Sunday, Feb. 13. Aropostale sets it off right by donating 10,000 pairs of jeans to start with. And all you have to do is bring in any brand of “gently worn” jeans to any Aropostale store in the U.S. and Canada. The jeans will be donated to a local youth shelter in your area. Plus, Aropostale wants to thank those who donate by giving an additional 25% off the purchase of a new pair of jeans from their stores.
The campaign also wants to encourage donation drives from schools and colleges. If you collect more than 500 pairs of jeans, your school will get a banner and recognition on the and Aropostale web sites. The school that collects the most pairs of jeans will win $5000.00 and a party for your entire school. There will also be chances to win signed jeans from Lanter, Lowndes and some of your other fave stars.
“This is something that teenagers can do themselves,” says Lowndes. “They don’t need to give money. They literally just need to go through their closet and make someone’s day by donating to young person in need.”
