adele oscars Adele confirmed to perform 'Skyfall' at the Oscars: 'It's an honour'

It’s official: Adele is going to be performing at the upcoming Academy Awards. Though it seemed almost guaranteed that she would sing her Oscar-nominated James Bond theme “Skyfall” during the ceremony — especially since there will be a celebration of the 007 franchise during the show — the confirmation of the news makes the upcoming awards show all the more exciting.

“It’s an honour to be nominated and terrifyingly wonderful to be singing in front of people who have captured my imagination over and over again,” Adele says in a statement. “It’s something I’ve never experienced and probably only ever will once!”

This will be Adele’s first live performance since the 2012 Grammys almost a year ago. “Skyfall” is also the first Bond theme to be nominated for an Oscar since “For Your Eyes Only” in 1981. Adele is up against J. Ralph’s “Before My Time” from “Chasing Ice,” Mychael Danna’s “Pi’s Lullaby” from “Life of Pi,” Walter Murphy’s “Everybody Needs A Best Friend” from “Ted” and Claude-Michel Schonberg’s “Suddenly” from “Les Miserables.”

The Oscars will be held on Feb. 24.
