chloe sevigny getty american horror story A&E picks up new series 'Those Who Kill' starring Chloe Sevigny, James D'ArcyA&E’s pilot “Those Who Kill” starring Chloe Sevigny and James D’Arcy is nearing a series order at the cable network.

The show is based on a Danish series and tracks a police detective (Sevigny) and forensic profiler (D’Arcy) who track down serial killers. Joe Carnahan (“The Grey”) directed the pilot, written by Glen Morgan (“The X-Files”). James Morrison (“24”) and Kerry O’Malley (“Shameless”) co-star.

The pilot was shot in Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette first reported the pending pick-up, noting production is expected to begin in August for a likely 2014 premiere.

“Those Who Kill” would be just the latest in a string of serial killer projects on the air including the recent arrival of FOX’s “The Following,” NBC’s “Hannibal” and A&E’s own spin on the genre “Bates Motel” (inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho”).

In an odd coincidence, D’Arcy recently played “Psycho” star Anthony Perkins in the feature film “Hitchcock.” He also co-starred in last year’s “Cloud Atlas” and Showtime’s British TV import “Secret Diary of a Call Girl.”

Sevigny was most recently on TV in a recurring role on FX’s “American Horror Story: Asylum” and also starred in DirecTV’s “Hit & Miss” and HBO’s “Big Love.”

A&E’s current line-up of original scripted programming also includes “Longmire” and “The Glades.”
