It’s been a while since Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) spoke on “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.” In this Zap2it-exclusive clip from Tuesday’s (April 21) episode, “Frenemy of My Enemy,” that all changes.

In the above video, Coulson and Deathlok (J. August Richards) surprise Agent 33 (finally fully back to Maya Stojan) with a visit. Cut to Ward getting a call from his partner — things seem to have escalated since viewers last saw them, since he now answers the phone with a smile and a “Hey baby” — and he’s shocked to hear Coulson on the other end of the line.
“Hey sweetie,” the director of SHIELD tells his former agent. “Why don’t you drop by? Love to catch up.”
The synopsis for the new episode suggests there’s plenty more to come after that conversation. It reads: “A dangerous new alliance is formed as Coulson and Hunter turn to the last person anyone would expect, Grant Ward! As the war between SHIELD factions continues, Skye and Lincoln will find themselves drawn into this conflict.”
“Agents of SHIELD” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
