And Lorne Michaels‘ recent announcement that Alec Baldwin will host “Saturday Night Live” for a record-breaking 16th time during its Season 37 premiere should fuel the fire between Baldwin and 15-time host Steve Martin.
As the New York Times was first to report, Baldwin — who may or may not stay on “30 Rock” which may or may not go on past Season 6 — will return to Studio 8H on Sept. 24. Expect Martin to leave part of that weekend open to crash his monologue or at least send a snide, pre-taped greeting.
Another host locked in for “SNL” is “Mike & Molly” star Melissa McCarthy. Fresh off her breakout performance in “Bridesmaids,” McCarthy’s hosting gig will see her reunited with co-star Kristen Wiig. This will be McCarthy’s first appearance on the series.
