The original boy band New Kids on the Block took to the stage at the 2010 American Music Awards with the boy band of our own personal high school years, the Backstreet Boys. It was … let’s just say we like picturing Justin Timberlake watching at home, rolling around naked on his piles of money and laughing his butt off.
Don’t get us wrong — the nostalgia factor was delightful. But the vocals were pretty rough, especially for the New Kids. We were glad to see all five of them there though — we weren’t sure if “Blue Bloods” would give Donnie the time off to come rock it “Hangin’ Tough”-style.
Speaking of the songs, we also loved the sometimes-awkward mash-up of “Backstreet’s Back,” “Hangin’ Tough,” “The Right Stuff,” “Larger Than Life” and “Step by Step.” We also thought the dance moves were hot — all the guys still go moves. It was no Adam Lambert performance from 2009, but it was a pretty great way to end the show. If you missed it, there’s video below.
