leeza gibbons america now 'America Now's' Leeza Gibbons: 'The right show at the right time'Leeza Gibbons misses a studio audience, but she isn’t ruling one out for her latest project — the just-launched news-you-can-use magazine show “America Now,” co-hosted by “Apprentice” familiar Face Bill Rancic.

“I do miss the excitement of a live audience,” Gibbons tells Zap2it. “There’s just no substitute for it. I’m hoping we’ll be able to grow to a place where we can do community-based live events.”

But Gibbons — a South Carolina native and veteran of “Entertainment Tonight,” her own epynomous TV talk show and a syndicated radio show —  is downright proud of “America Now,” a show that she says takes a solution-based approach to everything from beauty tips to caring for an elderly family member.

“We get a lot of shock value with headlines that scare us,” says Gibbons. “But to have the problem presented without any avenues for solution is frustrating beyond belief. I think we’re numb feeling we have to be experts on everything in our own lives. We just are overwhelmed — so what I love about show is the opportunity to give advice.”

Gibbons, who launched her own cosmetics line 10 years ago, will also host regular beauty segments.

“I call them my celebrity-inspired home-grown beauty tips,” says Gibbons who says she’s been interested in hair and makeup since her childhood when mom wrapped her hair in mayonnaise and eggs.

“This is topical news that is timely and relevant — not breaking, but trending news,” says Gibbons. “It was the right show at the right time for me.”
