adam lambert oprah winfrey show 'American Idol' Adam Lambert on 'Oprah': 'Wow, universe came through!'On Tuesday (Jan. 19), “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert talks to Oprah about his new-found fame and performs his new single “If I Had You.”

When Oprah asks what it feels like being Adam Lambert, he responds, “Weird. It’s surreal!” and goes on to say that a year and a half ago, he was just in the chorus of a musical and he “asked for something to happen” and started imagining what his life could be and what he really wanted out of it.

Oprah wonders who he asked and Lambert says, “The universe.” Did he see where he is right now? No, not at all. “Wow, universe came through,” He laughs. He wanted something to come along that would change his life, kick it up a notch. Auditioning for “Idol” was his first step but he never saw himself winning — though he was choked up when Simon Cowell told him he had emerged a star.

What do we think of “If I Had You?” It’s like a dance-hit-meets-power-ballad weird hybrid, but it’s kinda catchy. Also, we love that Lambert hasn’t just gone around performing “For Your Entertainment” at every turn. The introduction of “Whataya Want From Me” and now “If I Had You” is a great way to keep him fresh.

Check your local listings for air time.  If you haven’t seen Adam Lambert’s music video for “Whataya Want From Me,” be sure to check it out here. It’s excellent. We are eagerly anticipating the video for his new single “If I Had You.”
