“American Idol” contestant Crystal Bowersox returned to the “Idol” stage on Wednesday (Mar. 3) night. Any lingering effects of the ailment that kept her from performing and caused the show to switch the boys and girls performance nights were completely concealed.

After last week’s take on Alanis Morissette’s “Hand in My Pocket” was not particularly well-received, Bowersox had a lot to prove. Up first amongst the Top 10 women, she came through with flying colors with Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “As Long As I Can See the Light.”

“That is pure, raw natural talent,” judge Ellen DeGeneres enthused afterwards. “There’s nothing forced, there’s nothing pushed.”

And offering even stronger praise, Simon Cowell told Bowersox that he had “completely misunderestimated” her and drew a “serious artist” comparison between her and Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson.

Now it just remains to be seen if “Idol” fans are willing to forgive her having an extra day to recover.
