american idol mk nobilette eliminated top 10 'American Idol' eliminated singer MK Nobilette really did want to be thereMK Nobilette is proud of her accomplishments during “American Idol” Season 13, even though she had a feeling her ouster was coming after her not-so-great performance during Top 10 week.

“The whole night kind of sucked,” she tells Zap2it and a small group of reporters after she was voted off the show. “I definitely did the worst out of everybody because I fumbled so hard. [But] I wanted to make Top 10, I wanted to make summer tour, and I did. So I’m happy.”

A constant refrain during Nobilette’s critiques was that she needed to act like she wanted to be there, and anyone who saw her passionate “save me” performance can tell she truly did. But Nobilette says the whole thing was kind of an out-of-body experience.

“I have to re-watch it. I was sort of in a mood, so I don’t know what it sounded like,” she says with a laugh. “I wasn’t really there for it… I was there for it, but I wasn’t there for it, so I don’t know how it sounded. It felt good. I felt really good, so hopefully it sounded really good too.”

Harry Connick Jr. was the only judge to speak to Nobilette after her exit, and MK says his advice — given both during the show and when he pulled her aside after to tell her she’s an amazing musician who should record an album — was incredibly valuable.

“I appreciate him,” she says. “He’s, I think, one of the realest musicians alive. I think that he’s the only one that’s not afraid to tell you what’s wrong and the one piece of advice that I’m always going to carry with me from ‘American Idol’ – I’m sure that was a question – was definitely when he said that I didn’t want to be there. I’m always going to ask myself before I sing now, ‘Do you want to be here?’ So I have something to prove and something to show.”
