american idol top 5 hockey girls interview angie kree janelle candice amber fox 'American Idol' interviews: Amber, Angie, Candice, Janelle and Kree talk about the all girl Top 5

This is a historic week in the life of “American Idol.” For the first time ever, the Top 5 is made up of all girls! After the Top 5 performances, we caught up with Kree Harrison, Janelle Arthur, Candice Glover, Angie Miller and Amber Holcomb to find out how they felt about their all-female competition.

Of all of the girls, Amber seemed to be having the most trouble adjusting to the loss of the boys. Although technically she was mostly missing Burnell Taylor and Lazaro Arbos. “Laz, he is my boo. I love him to death,” Amber said. “He was always there for me. We would sing each other’s songs in our rooms until 1 in the morning.

It’s not like Amber can’t get along with the girls though. “We all eat together and stuff but I feel half my heart is missing,” she explained. “We really don’t have any drama. You’d think with five girls … even if we did, we’d separate ourselves from each other. Then we’d be, ‘Why are you being so distant? Come back to me!'”

Angie, on the other hand, was nothing but excited about the demographics of the competition. “I can’t believe that we have made history,” she exclaimed. “It’s the first time ever that the Top 5 is all girls. It feels amazing. And all the girls are insanely talented and so unique — so different — so I am so glad. Girls! Yeah! Girl winner!”

Like the others, Candice echoed the feelings of camaraderie between the Top 5. “I always tell people we are just five girls that hang out all week and happen to sing on the show on Wednesday night,” she said.

Candice credited the talent and professionalism of the singers for the good atmosphere as well. “It doesn’t feel like competition and we want to beat each other,” she explained. “We love each other but at the same time the competition is very stiff — because feel like we are not amateurs anymore. Everyone here is getting professional and we all know what we are doing.”

The Top 5 girls are so happy with the current makeup of the group that they’re all hoping for a judges’ save this week in order to stay together. “We’re all so proud of each other, there is definitely a strong sisterhood,” Kree explained. “Whether you believe me or not, it’s there. When we’re all on stage at the end, we’re just like, ‘Holy crap! We’re in the Top 5! It’s crazy!’ I’m hoping that next week … I mean tomorrow, they save whoever. Because I don’t want to go home. I don’t want somebody else to go home!”

We will all find out who — if anybody — goes home from the Top 5 on Thursday, April 18 at 8pm.
