chris isaak american idol judge 'American Idol': Judge search heats up with talk of Isaak, Connick

Auditions for season 10 of “American Idol” are well underway, but there’s still a vacant seat at the judge’s table. And FOX seems no closer to finding a replacement for Simon Cowell.

Well, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that a handful of would-be judges are on the top of FOX’s list — and, be still our hearts, Bret Michaels isn’t one of them. Sources reveal that he’s no longer being considered.

But who is? “Wicked Games” singer Chris Isaak reportedly met with producers twice now about possibly coming on board, and beloved “Idol” guest Harry Connick Jr. — who tops season 9 contestants’ list of most suitable Simon replacements — is also still a contender.

THR says FOX insists a decision won’t come for the foreseeable future, but entertainment chairman Peter Rice plans on having the new judge join the panel by the last round of road auditions in early September. Zap2it has reached out to FOX for official comment. We’ll keep you posted.
