kelly clarkson getty 'American Idol' Kelly Clarkson's show goes on smoke freeDjarum, the company that owns L.A. Lights, whose sponsorship of “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson‘s Jakarta concert, has pulled out of the sponsorship following the uproar from fans and anti-tobacco groups.

Adrie Subono tells the Associated Press that his company Java Musikindo has reached an agreement with Djarum but that it would take one or two days
to get all the advertisements removed from billboards and television.

Clarkson responded to the outrage of the tobacco sponsorship on her blog Wednesday, April 21, saying that she was unaware of the tobacco company sponsorship and that while she does not condone smoking whatsoever, she did not want to disappoint her Indonesian fans by canceling the concert.

We think Djarum pulling their sponsorship is certainly the best possible outcome and we’re glad Kelly is out of her spot between a rock and a hard place. We still find it commendable that Clarkson would denounce smoking yet go ahead with the concert even in the face of the backlash so as not to disappoint her fans.
