“American Idol” winner Kris Allen is coming back — to work with “Idol Gives Back” and the relief effort in Haiti.
Allen will travel with the United Nations Foundation to Haiti to continue the awareness of the country’s great need after the devastating earthquake last month.
On the Feb. 25 results show of “American Idol,” Kris will perform and share live footage from his trip and viewers will be able to make donations online and via text-message. All the proceeds will go to the “Idol Gives Back” foundation to help the U.N. and their work in Haiti.
Kris says, “It is heartbreaking to see the devastation that Haiti is currently facing. I am truly honored to be traveling to Haiti to see the U.N.’s relief efforts firsthand and to help out any way that I can.”
The major “Idol Gives Back” show, where celebrities guest-star and perform, is still happening. The Kris Allen portion is simply airing next week to kick things off. The big “Idol Gives Back” airs Wednesday, April 21 and will benefit the Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children’s U.S. Programs and the United Nations Foundation.
