simon cowell larry king liv 'American Idol' on 'Larry King': Simon Cowell on leaving, judging and the BatphoneSimon Cowell is in his final six weeks as an “American Idol” judge, but if he’s having any second thoughts about leaving, he’s not betraying them.

Cowell — along with fellow judges Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres and host Ryan Seacrest — were guests on “Larry King Live” Monday (April 19), and King asked Cowell if it’s going to be hard to leave when the show wraps on May 26.

“No. No it’s not,” Cowell responded flatly. “I’ve had nine years. Genuinely, I’ve had the best time of my life, and I’m very grateful and as you say, lucky. But you always know when it’s the right time to go. And I’ll look back and say we’ve had a great time. I always promised myself that I wanted to leave and be able to say that.”

King also asked if Cowell would miss the show, which put Cowell at a rare loss for words for a few seconds. After a laugh, he finally answered, “I’ll probably miss it at times, yeah, but you can’t keep doing the same thing year after year. You can’t.”

At this point, DeGeneres got off the line of the night, referring to King’s 25 years as a CNN host (and, if you want to read it that way, possibly his recent marital issues as well. “No,” she said. “Larry, you know that.”

The judges and Seacrest also discussed Wednesday’s “Idol Gives Back,” Cowell’s approach to offering his critiques and Jackson’s plans to install a “Batphone” at the judges’ table next season. Take a look:
