lacey brown 320 top 8 'American Idol' quick 'n dirty: Lacey Brown, Didi Benami finally figure it outThe “American Idol” Top 8 women took to the stage where Crystal Bowersox punched her ticket to the Top 12 and Lacey Brown and Didi Benami finally showed why they are here.

This is Zap2it’s new quick ‘n dirty “American Idol” recap. The full recap is live here.

The Highlights: Lacey Brown and Didi Benami finally put their quirky voices to good use. Their choices of “The Story” and “Rhiannon,” respectively, were brilliant. They may have sung their way back into the Top 12.

The Lowlights: Katie Stevens still can’t figure it out. She has a tremendous instrument and no idea what to do with it. Paige Miles also had a really rough week and that coupled with the issue we addressed last week plus the fact that she had little to no screen time before the Top 24 means she is most likely going home.

The Lights: Katelyn Epperly was in good shape last week but her milquetoast effort this week should have her scared, while I am left to wonder what Simon Cowell was thinking after Siobhan Magnus. She gave a straight-up beautiful vocal, but Cowell was critical. Lilly Scott wasn’t my personal favorite but the judges gave her good critiques and she should be safe.

Why no mention of Crystal Bowersox? This marks her third good week in a row — she’s the only one who has absolutely punched her ticket to the Top 12.
