Scott MacIntyre is returning to “American Idol” Thursday, March 11 — and he has a new album to promote titled “Heartstrings.”

“Heartstrings,” MacIntyre’s first post-“Idol” CD is hitting iTunes and MacIntyre’s website Thursday, March 11, which coincides with his return to the “American Idol” stage. He won’t get to perform a song from the album, though. He and fellow season 8 finalist Matt Giraud are instead performing their duet that was cut from last year’s finale, a dueling pianos rendition of the Billy Joel hit “Tell Her About It.”

A song about a MySpace break-up? We’re intrigued.
