american idol season 12 live blog finale 'American Idol' Season 12 finale live blog: Candice Glover or Kree Harrison, who you got? It’s here, “American Idol” fans. The live finale when we find out who is crowed the Season 12 winner, Candice Glover or Kree Harrison. Based on the comments last night on our recap of the performances, people seem to think Candice has this one in the bag.

However, there have been a lot of seasons when the better “singer” didn’t win, so we think it could go either way. Really, the show can’t go wrong with either lady. But we’ll be here for the two-hour spectacular, which should feature some great performances along the way to finding out who is the next American Idol.

Join us for our live blog starting at 8 p.m. ET/PT. All times Eastern.

8:00 Ryan Seacrest welcomes us to the “event of the season” where we crown this year’s American Idol. But of course, we have 114 minutes of shenanigans first. So, buckle up, pour yourself a glass of wine and get ready!

8:02 — The Top 10 perform “Glad You Came” by The Wanted. They are wearing white, but … there is a lot of other stuff happening here, like paisley and fringe. Yikes.

8:03 — And arms in the air! You know, when this show is finally put out of its misery canceled, we’re going to miss our weekly dose of show choir cheese. Hey, Glambert! Some woman! Bo Bice! Kimberley Locke!

8:10The Band Perry is there to perform with Janelle, though the fist-pumping and head-banging is a little alarming. Janelle looks like she’s having a blast, though, so good for her. Also, she and Kimberly Perry could be sisters, amirite?

8:14 — There’s a montage of the “Ten Little Indians”-ing of the guys in the Top 10. Was it sabotage on the part of the women? Heh. OK, that’s kinda funny, especially when they make fun of Lazaro’s key change that might be the worst thing we’ve ever seen on this show in 12 seasons. And the “Voice” joke, hee.

8:17 — However, this leads into the Top 5 guys performing a Four Seasons medley and we’d be lying if we said we weren’t rooting for a trainwreck like that trio that Nicki Minaj said was so awful and ordered them off the stage.

frankie valli idol finale 'American Idol' Season 12 finale live blog: Candice Glover or Kree Harrison, who you got?8:20 — Also, while we love Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and all that jazz (truly, we love oldies), we can’t imagine Valli is keeping the attention of the teen viewers of this show. Seriously, that mosh pit is probably getting electric shocks if they don’t wave their arms and scream.

8:22 — OK, also, we thought Valli was dead and we’re not 100% sure this isn’t an animatronic version. Except for the fact that he can’t really keep up with the song, which just makes us sad. Like that year Dionne Warwick performed and it was like her death rattle. This is a little terrifying.

8:23 — Though bless his heart, Keith Urban is at least feigning excitement (or maybe it’s real). Minaj can’t even effectively fake it.

mariah carey idol finale 'American Idol' Season 12 finale live blog: Candice Glover or Kree Harrison, who you got?8:28 — It’s Ms. Mariah‘s turn, do you suppose Minaj can feign excitement for this? Or maybe they’ll just avoid cutting to her. Or maybe this was pre-taped and that will solve that problem.

8:31 — Also, you kind of forget until you hear her sing, but Mariah Carey is like stupid talented. Just … ridiculous. Though I’m sad not to hear “Someday,” because I still love that song.

8:33 — Did you hear? Randy Jackson plays bass. Journey. Journey. Journeyjourneyjourney.

Emeli Sande is there! Now that’s cool, she’s very hip and current. She just broke a huge Beatles record in the U.K., also this song is great.

8:41 — A recap of the Fiesta missions. Hmph. That’s great and all, but we don’t need to relive them. Was Perry Como unavailable to perform?

8:44 Psy is there. So, next we should expect Antoine Dodson? This really can’t get any more ludicrous, they might as well throw in the “Bed Intruder Song.”

8:52Keith Urban is performing and that’s great, we adore him, but lordy, we aren’t even halfway done. Also, where’s Nicole Kidman? Why hasn’t she been in the audience all season? She should have to be there, we feel like.

candice j hud idol finale 'American Idol' Season 12 finale live blog: Candice Glover or Kree Harrison, who you got?8:56 — Candice is performing “Inseparable” and she’s … woooooo, gorgeous. And hey, J-Hud is there. Is this like a ghost-of-Christmas-future thing? Also, these two amazing divas completely transfixed my baby for a solid few minutes. So, well done there.

— Seacrest teases “more surprises,” so we’re assuming more people will take the stage who we weren’t sure were alive or dead.

9:05 — The “girl who came so close to competing on this stage” is a great intro, Seacrest. Makes a girl feel so warm and fuzzy. Anyway. Angie Miller is performing “Titanium” with Glambert. That’s fun, he has such a lovely voice. His “Tracks Of My Tears” is still one of our favorite “Idol” performances ever.

9:07 — OK, these two sound great together. We demand a duet. And actually, you know what we’d love to hear them do? “Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum.

9:09 — Now Angie gets to perform with Jessie J, who we did not realize was currently sporting such short hair. Punk-y. Also, these two sound great together as well. Angie’s going to have a big career, we feel like.

9:11 — The male judges are conspicuously absent from the table. Are they performing? Is it with Journey? Please be with Journey.

9:12 — Jessie J very coolly offers to fly Angie to the UK to perform her single at one of Jessie’s shows because she gave up the chance to perform her single in order to sing with Jessie tonight. Awww, that’s awesome!

— A montage about the judges, from the perspectives of the contestants. Zzzzzz, let’s get some more wine.

kree keith randy idol finale 'American Idol' Season 12 finale live blog: Candice Glover or Kree Harrison, who you got?9:21 — Keith and Randy are not, unfortunately, involving Journey in something. #separatewaysforever, but Kree is singing “Where the Blacktop Ends” with Keith and Randy on guitars and Travis Barker on the drums. OK, that’s pretty sweet.

— Time to say goodbye to Randy Jackson, first with a dumb sketch involving dogs, but then with a kind-of awesome video of his time on “Idol.” Love the early footage.

aretha franklin idol finale 'American Idol' Season 12 finale live blog: Candice Glover or Kree Harrison, who you got?9:33Aretha Franklin is there via satellite to perform with the Top 5 girls. Um, what? Huh. I mean, who doesn’t love Aretha, but this is weird. It’s like a half-step away from performing with her hologram, which would mean she’s dead. Kind of a fitting synergy with Frankie Valli, we guess.

9:36 — As this performance drags on goes on, we start to flashback to going to Showbiz Pizza as a kid and watching animatronic animals dance and sing. Can’t imagine why.

9:45 — A “tribute to the season,” which really means “footage of all the crazypants people.” But at least Phillip Phillips is getting some play. And please, may we never see Zoanette again.

9:50 — Well, we thought we were going to get out of here without a J-Lo performance, but no such luck. She’s there with Pitbull to sing and dance — and cackle in a weirdly maniacal way. Also, what’s with J-Lo and the dancers in those babydoll Greek superhero get-ups? Hmm.

— Time for the finalists to sing together on “One Less Bell to Answer.” Beautiful. No matter who wins, they’re both great. And they sound great together, which is not something you can say about many “Idol’ Top 2 pairings.

Candice Glover is the winner! Awesome, good for her.

Thanks for joining us, “Idol” fans! See you back here next year!
