tyler jlo 'American Idol': Steven Tyler dishes on J.Lo and judging, preview Kelly Clarkson's new song

New “American Idol” judge Steven Tyler is raving about his fellow judge, Jennifer Lopez. “First and foremost, she’s a lady and she’s not afraid to show that at any given time,” he says, “She’s ridiculous. She’s exactly what I thought she’d be. She’s street.” The Aerosmith frontman also opened up about having some difficulty judging. “It’s hard when you have a kid who’s 15-years-old… and some of them
were awful. I just say something like, ‘Did you bump your head on the
way in?'” He also says don’t expect him to be the next Simon Cowell. “I’m really not one for giving insults.” [US Magazine]

Lee DeWyze
is hoping to avoid “Idol’s” stigma and says he’s aware of the criticism surrounding his season of the show (ratings, concert and album sales). “I guess I haven’t really talked much about it in any interviews, but a big part of this process for me has been, there’s definitely a stigma attached to ‘American Idol,” whether people like it or not,” he says. “I’m not an idiot. I
definitely know what people have said, whether it be ratings or
shows or album sales or this or that. I know what’s out there. When you’re on ‘American Idol,’ you’re almost expected
to come out and be the biggest artist in the world, ever. People don’t understand sometimes that there’s a lot more to it
than just going on the show, winning, and then, ‘Hey, I made an album,
and I’m successful.’ It’s not like that.” [Chicago Tribune]

Former judge Paula Abdul will be watching the new season of “Idol,” even if it airs at the same time as her new show, “Live to Dance.” “I’m gonna be watching,” she says. Paula also gave her opinion on Tyler and Lopez. “When you’re a performer and you’ve been
through auditions, and you know the hard work it takes, it’s a
different perspective,” she says. “But that was what was great about Randy, Simon and I — we all came from different perspectives.” She adds that because they’re seasoned veterans, they know what it makes to make it and that she’s “really happy” that Randy Jackson “is at the helm because you need that familiarity.” [TV Guide]

Kelly Clarkson previewed her new song “You Still Won’t Know What It’s Like?” at “A Night for Hope,” a benefit concert held in Nashville. The song was inspired by her trip to Africa and since it’s so new, Clarkson had to read the lyrics as she performed. Clarkson says she’s working on putting together a version her fans can download soon. Listen to the song here:
