Monday, Jan. 11 is the premiere of “Adam Lambert: On the Record with Fuse.” We’ve got a sneak peek in which Adam discusses why he decided to audition for “American Idol” — leverage.

Someone advised Adam that joining the recording industry is all about building a fanbase and he thought “American Idol” would help him do that. He also never thought he would make it as far as he did on the show.

Adam’s episode of “On the Record” covers topics from the loneliness of middle school to coming out of the closet to collaborating with Pink on “Whataya Want from Me.” It airs at 8 pm ET Monday, Jan. 11 on DirecTV channel 339 or EchoStar 158. For cable subscribers, check your local listings.
