For the “American Idol” Top 8, the Idols were paired up for duet performances. Country cuties Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina were paired to perform Lady Antebellum‘s “American Honey.” What did you think?

Honestly, we thought it was pretty darn good. Scotty started off a little shaky, but Lauren can really handle Hillary Scott’s vocals. And when they two sang at the same time, Scotty seemed to get some confidence and it was better. We would love to hear Lauren on Lady Antebellum’s “I Need You Now” at some point. Maybe if she and Scotty make Top 4, where they have in the past had them do duets for performance night, they could do that song.

It turned out to be a good night for them elimination-wise as well, as both were declared safe very early on. Do you think we’re looking at an all-country finale showdown?
