“America’s Got Talent’s” seventh season is right around the corner – quite literally, as the show is starting a month soon than it normally does. Debuting this year is new judge Howard Stern, who has been a longtime fan of the show. In the above video preview, he says, “Honestly, I’m a huge fan of the show … something appealed to me with this” and we get some Stern bon mots, like “Aren’t the suitcases better used for packing up and getting off the stage?”

We will confess to being a little disgruntled when Stern was announced as the new judge, but the preview video makes him look quite a better than we were expecting, so we shall reserve judgment until we’ve seen him in action.

Meanwhile, don’t forget that you can still audition via YouTube. Details can be found at http://www.youtube.com/agt and videos are being accepted through June 1, so if you’ve always had a dream of spinning plates while riding a unicycle and singing “Lady of Spain” for a national audience, now is your chance.

“America’s Got Talent” returns Monday, May 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
