antm british invasion finale winner sophie sumner laura lafrate 'America's Next Top Model: British Invasion' winner: Sophie Sumner or Laura LaFrate? The “America’s Next Top Model: British Invasion” cycle came to an end Wednesday night (May 30) and the winner is … Sophie Sumner. This was Sophie’s second trip to the Final 2, as she made it that far on her cycle of “Britain’s Next Top Model,” but this time it ended better for her.

The finale saw the girls do the annual Cover Girl commercial and print ad shoot. Laura has a panic attack in the middle of the shoot and is taken to the hospital, but she rallies and performs well at a photo shoot for Vogue Italia – her look is very complimentary to the high-fashion spa surroundings of the shoot.

Tyra comes to the house to give Laura a counseling session, to which Laura says in a talking-head moment, “She wasn’t just a judge. She was Tyra Banks, a person, just like everybody else.” Heh.

The final runway show is at the MGM Macao featuring the styles of Forever 21. It also features holographic images. Yikes. Some of the eliminated girls are there, including Alisha, who is convinced if she hadn’t left voluntarily that she would win. And then she walks right out of her light during the actual show. *snicker*

After the runway show, we actually weren’t sure who was going to win. We figured Sophie would kill the runway, but Laura did well during the runway, so it seems like a much tighter race at this point.

At the final panel, the girls are in gorgeous ball gowns. And judging goes well for both girls. Sophie gets better comments about her runway (which is valid, she was stronger), but Laura’s Cover Girl commercial is better. The print ads are pretty neck-and-neck – we prefer Laura’s, but the judges seem to prefer Sophie’s picture.

After a long deliberation, the judges declare Sophie the winner. We’re bummed for Laura – we bet her Vogue Italia pictures taken in that spa are stunning. But congratulations to Sophie on her win!

What do you think, “ANTM” fans? Also, are you going to miss Jay, Nigel and Miss J? We sure are.
