“America’s Next Top Model” didn’t give the two finalists a moment to breathe on Wednesday’s (May 18) Cycle 16 finale.
Brittani and Molly met with IMG’s vice president Ivan Bart, did a Cover Girl shoot and commercial, a Vogue Italia and Beauty in Vogue shoot, a runway for Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania line, and then a surprise makeover leaving them both with sassy, short haircuts. We’re tired just writing all that!
And after all was said and done, the judges evaluated the girls’ entire body of work over the cycle and chose Brittani for the win!
Unfortunately dubbed “the girl from the trailer park,” the 19-year-old from Beech Creek, Pa. was able to get past some big emotional barriers including freaking out on her annoying cast mate Alexandria on a shoot and frequent tearful bouts with self-confidence. Despite it all, she knew that there was no other option for her than winning the competition.
Molly, on the other hand, has had to deal with her anger issues overwhelming her on challenges. She battled against abandonment and trust issues stemming from being an orphan and later being adopted. Many times, her anger could be felt by potential clients and showed through in her pictures.
In the finale, the 22-year-old from Charleston, S.C. seemed to have a handle on everything until her Cover Girl commercial didn’t go as well as she hoped and that also affected her Cover Girl photo shoot. Thankfully, her parents arrived for a surprise visit and lifted her spirits.
That wasn’t enough to take the title from Brittani, though. She impressed the judges with consistently beautiful pictures, an edgy, marketable look, her runway walk, and her ability to return to the runway after taking a pretty bad fall in the finale challenge.
Was Brittani your choice too? Or did you think the judges should have picked Molly?
