U.K. newspaper The Sun is reporting that Blake Fielder-Civil, ex-husband to the late singer Amy Winehouse (pictured together in 2007), is on life support following a collapse on Aug. 9. The newspaper says Blake, 30, was found in bed choking after having allegedly consumed alcohol and heroin. He was rushed to a nearby Dewsbury hospital, which is roughly 200 miles north-northwest of London.
Sarah Aspin, Blake’s current partner and mother of his 15-month-old son Jack, tells the paper, “The doctors say they don’t know the prognosis. They said they put him in a coma to help him and due to infection. I’m praying he’ll survive, but I’m having to prepare myself that he may never wake up.”
Winehouse’s father Mitch Winehouse wrote on Twitter the day Blake was taken to the hospital, “Terrible news about Blake this morning. Remember Amy loved him. Let’s pray for his recovery.”
Winehouse adds Friday (Aug. 10), “It looks like Blake is going to get through this. That’s good news.”
There is no official update on Fielder-Civil’s condition, however.
