mr sunshine perry point And now... the nominations for the Bizarro EmmysTake a gander at the various Emmy nomination ballots and you’ll quickly discover something: Almost everyone puts their name in for a nomination.

It doesn’t matter if the show died a quick and painless death, if it was critically derided for much of its short run, it’s so obscure no one has ever heard of it, or it’s an established — and sometimes quite good — show whose chances of being nominated are about the same as our seeing dinosaurs roaming the planet in our lifetimes.

This isn’t an ego thing, surprisingly enough; the academy encourages casts and crews from all shows to submit themselves for a nomination, likely under the axiom that you’ve got to be in it to win it (did you hear that, Charlie Sheen?). What this all-inclusive attitude can lead to, though, is some pretty funny discoveries.

So, let’s pretend that we’re in the Bizarro world for a little while — anyone who’s a fan of Superman or “Seinfeld” should get the reference — where up is down, backwards is forwards, and the Cubs are the 27-time World Series champions. Oh, and there are Bizarro Emmys there, too, but there they just call them “The Emmys.” Who would be nominated for a Bizarro Emmy? Let’s find out:
