Mitt Romney and his wife have finally spoken out about his loss during the 2012 presidential election. In an interview with Fox News Sunday, Ann Romney says she blames the media for the fact her husband is not president.

“He was not given a fair shake. People weren’t allowed to see him for who he really was,” she says. “I am happy to blame the media.”

Ann continues, “I think that any time you are running for office you always think that you are being portrayed unfairly, and, you know, we — of course, on our side believe there is more bias in favor of the other side. I think that, you know, that is a pretty universal.”

For his part, Romney says that the fact he was unable to connect with minority populations ultimately hurt his campaign. He was “convinced we would win,” and claims the past few months have been hard on him. In fact, Ann still cries over the loss.

“I wish I were there,” Romney says. “It kills me to not be there, to not be in the White House doing what needs to be done. … The hardest thing about losing is watching this critical moment, this golden moment, just slip away with politics.”

Ann adds, “I mourn the fact that he’s not [in the White House. I totally believe if Mitt were there in the office we would not be facing sequestration.”
