anna faris cast chuck lorre sitcom mom gi Anna Faris cast in the title role of Chuck Lorre's pilot, 'Mom'

Chuck Lorre‘s newest effort in the TV world has found its leading lady. Anna Faris has been cast in the title role of Lorre’s sitcom pilot, “Mom.” What sort of mother figure are we getting?

Faris, known mostly for her comedy film roles in the “Scary Movie” franchise, “The House Bunny” and “The Dictator,” will play a newly sober single mother in “Mom” (as first reported by TVLine). The series will follow Faris’ character as she tries to pull her life together while working in the wine-soaked Napa Valley.

The script for “Mom,” comes from Lorre, who co-wrote it with “Two and a Half Men” producers Eddie Gorodetsky and Gemma Baker. Assuming that this newest comedy gets picked up to series for the fall of 2013, Lorre will presumably have four sitcoms airing on CBS at the same time. “The Big Bang Theory” has always been renewed for the upcoming season, “Mike and Molly” is almost certainly coming back, and even “Two and a Half Men” has a good shot at an 11th season.

As viewers of the current season of “Top Chef” know, Anna Faris (with her actor-husband, Chris Pratt) recently became a mother herself. That may help her out in this role.
