anna kendrick hosts saturday night live Anna Kendrick hosts 'Saturday Night Live': How did she do? Anna Kendrick took over hosting duties on “Saturday Night Live” for the first time on April 5. She brought her singing, dancing and comedy skills to the sketch show and it was clear from the start that the rest of the cast had high hopes for her — Lorne Michaels even made an appearance!

Kendrick’s monologue was a well-choreographed, huge dance number spoof on “Belle,” with Kendrick singing about how she’s always wanted to host the show after seeing “Beauty and the Beast” on Broadway. However, the rest of the cast was a little put-off at her enthusiasm — Bobby Moynihan even warned her to “pace yourself, girl.” But that enthusiasm carried throughout the entire show, delivering a solid episode all-around. Bonus points for the random Icona Pop cameo during the hilarious “Dongs All Over the World” music video.

One small grievance: No “Les Jeunes De Paris” sketch will ever come close to Emma Stone’s inaugural outing, so no other host (including Stone in subsequent episodes) should try to reprise this. Nice try, Kendrick.
Also: More Brooks Wheelan, please and thank you. This is the second time Wheelan has truly shown off his talents, playing himself during “Weekend Update” to deliver a hilariously sarcastic yet honest PSA. The first time he lectured against getting tattoos, using his own body art as evidence. This time, he warned against the dangers of drinking, citing his own horrible experience one time when he was 20 when his friends’ prank-gone-wrong led him to believe he had a new kind of STD for six weeks (it was actually just a stick of melted butter). Seriously, Wheelan is the most underrated cast member.
