apple iwatch i watch gi Apple iWatch: Trademark registration leads to speculation

Is Apple headed toward their next big technological advance? Probably, but is that jump really going to be a watch? That’s what a lot of people are thinking after Apple decided to register a trademark for the name “iWatch” in a number of countries, including Japan.
Is Apple grabbing the name while they can, looking to releasing a fancy wristwatch computer at some point? A report in the New York Times seems to think so. They spoke with Tom Krang of Counterpoint Research. “Yes, the iWatch is going to come,” he says, “and it has already triggered a lot of similar products from the competition.”
In a world where tech users seem to want bigger screens, is an iPad in a wristwatch something people will want? Luckily for Apple, they have a very loyal fan base that will give whatever they come up with a chance. So selling the iWatch right off the bat shouldn’t be a big problem. After all, some people thought the iPad was a crazy idea before they hit the market, and now tablet computers are everywhere.
Perhaps the trademark isn’t for a wristwatch though. Analysts point out that Apple could simple be registering it to take the name off the market, or even to brand another product. Apple TV isn’t a very clever name anyway.

Even if it is a watch, it’s a way less crazy idea than Google Glass.
