arresteddevelopment cast 290 'Arrested Development' movie script in the works reallyNow, the story of a wealthy family who lost everything and the one writer who had no choice but to keep them all together.

It’s official — okay, “officialish,” considering how many times we’ve gone through this: “Arrested Development” creator Mitchell Hurtwitz is working on the script for the Bluth family’s big-screen debut.

That’s a nice change from the usual pessimistic reports: In mid-August, inside sources expressed their doubts to Korbi TV, saying that while the major cast members had signed on early in 2009, Hurwitz hadn’t done any work plotting a story.

Now, though, The Hollywood Reporter claims Hurwitz is hard at work on the script. Imagine and Fox Searchlight have agreed to produce. And no, series narrator Ron Howard won’t direct: THR says Hurwitz will fill that role.

“Arrested Development,” which ran for three seasons on FOX, followed Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman) as he coped with his spoiled but bankrupt family after their patriarch is jailed. Despite a passionate following by audiences and critics, “Development” got low ratings and was cancelled in 2006.
