most beloved TV comedies.Watch the first three seasons of “Arrested Development” on Netflix. We continue with episode 20 of Season 1, “Whistler’s Mother.” It originally aired on April 11, 2004.

Plot: Michael, eager to have the Bluth Company be a clean, well-run business, hands out whistles to the board to illustrate that everything will be done by the book from now on — while at the same time, everyone in the family tries to get a piece of the company’s windfall. George Sr.’s twin brother shows up, and Lindsay decides to protest the war after her hairstylist’s reserve unit is called up, leading to one of the most GIF’d moments in the show’s history.

GIF-worthy scenes:

Bluth Company status: Looking up? Michael makes a huge blunder by buying Oscar’s worthless, military base-adjacent land, but Lucille uses Oscar’s attraction to her to get the money back.

Recurring jokes worth remembering: Lucille comforting and shushing Michael, much to his confusion, in both the present and a flashback. “What is this? Why are you squeezing me with your body?”

Huge mistakes: See above re: Michael’s land deal.

Most sexual tension: Lucille and Oscar at his lemon grove. She’s there to get the company’s money back, but she strings him along a little bit just for fun.

Allusions to Tobias being gay: Discussing his dream to remake “Annie Hall,” Tobias says he’d like to work with an “old pro” of a producer like Robert Redford: “I’d jump into bed with him in a second!”

Best narrator commentary: “Lindsay was stunned — not just that she was losing her stylist, but apparently that there was a war going on.”

Next on “Arrested Development”: Michael has a hard time with Lucille on the company board. Lindsay finds her calling — cage dancing — and Oscar serenades Lucille, Lloyd Dobler-style.
