The lucky few journalists who attended the Netflix presentation at the TCA winter press tour on Jan. 9 were treated to a deleted scene from the upcoming fourth season of “Arrested Development,”, but now the rest of us fans got something even better to get us excited for the return of the Bluth family. Two official images from Season 4 have been released that reveal scenes from the upcoming 14 episodes Netflix is releasing in May.
The first, above, shows Jason Bateman talking to “Workaholics” star Adam DeVine in an airport. DeVine apparently plays an employee of Southwest Airlines, and whatever his character has to say to Bateman’s Michael Bluth doesn’t seem to make the latter very happy. DeVine’s involvement was first revealed by Bateman back in August.
The second image, below, shows Michael Cera‘s George Michael Bluth driving the Bluth Company’s signature stair car around, though his eyes are definitely not on the road. It’s clear here that Cera can still pull off the awkward George Michael a good seven years after the series went off the air — even if George Michael isn’t supposed to have aged as much as Cera has.
It’s unclear which episodes these images are from, but the first is likely taken from episode 1, “Michael.” Since all 14 “Arrested Development” Season 4 episodes are going to be released on Netflix at once, creator Mitch Hurwitz said that fans can watch them in whatever order they want, though he and his team did have a specific progression in mind when they filmed the season.
“There is absolutely an order that we have put together to create the maximum number of surprises,” he said at the TCA panel. “But that’s just part of our storytelling. If you watch it in the order we prescribe, you’ll get to episode 4 and say ‘That’s why he did that in episode 1.'”
