ashley judd kentucky senate Ashley Judd: Potential political opponent calls her 'too liberal for our country'

Ashley Judd is serious about her plans to run for Senate, though she’s not entirely sure when that political campaign might happen.

Initially it was reported that the “Missing” actress was aiming to run for public office in 2014, which means she’d face off against Mitch McConnell for the Kentucky Senate seat. Now it’s being reported by Politico that Judd is considering waiting to run until 2016, which would mean she’d be vying against freshman Sen. Rand Paul for the seat. Though her plans aren’t set in stone, Paul has already started talking down on Judd in the press.

“I heard she lives in Scotland, I thought she was running for Parliament,” Paul told a Kentucky radio station, via The Telegraph. He added that she’s “way damn too liberal for our country, for our state.”

When news of her potential Senate run hit the web, Judd said, “I cherish Kentucky, heart and soul, and while I’m very honored by the consideration, we have just finished an election, so let’s focus on coming together to keep moving America’s families, and especially our kids, forward.”
